What Is Protein?


Protein is one of the three major macronutrients, together with carbohydrates and fats. Proteins are made up of amino acids, which the body uses to build, maintain, and repair tissues.
Protein is also required for the production of many important substances, including enzymes, hormones, antibodies, and other molecules involved in normal physiological functions.


Why Is Protein Important?


Protein has many essential functions in the human body. It:
